ProActive is the Java GRID and Cloud middleware library (with Open Source code under GPL license) for parallel, distributed and multi-threaded computing.
With a reduced set of simple primitives, ProActive provides a comprehensive API to simplify the programming of Grid Computing applications: distributed on Local Area Network (LAN), on clusters of workstations, or on Internet GRIDs and Clouds.
ProActive is only made of standard Java classes, and requires no changes to the Java Virtual Machine, no preprocessing or compiler modification, leaving programmers to write standard Java code.
