The PRIDE PRoteomics IDEntifications database is a centralized, standards compliant, public data repository for proteomics data. It has been developed to provide the proteomics community with a public repository for protein and peptide identifications together with the evidence supporting these identifications.

The original motivation behind its development was to provide a common data exchange format and repository to support proteomics literature publications. This remit has grown with PRIDE, with the hope that PRIDE will provide a reference set of tissue-based identifications for use by the community. The future development of PRIDE has become closely linked to HUPO PSI. In addition to identifications, PRIDE is able to capture details of post-translational modifications coordinated relative to the peptides in which they have been found.

This project builds the core API of PRIDE, comprising the relational database implementation, core Java API and XML schema. PRIDE3 is a re-write from the ground up to implement the new MzML and AnalysisXML PSI formats and incorporate new technologies to make PRIDE responsive and able to handle massive data sets.
