Abstract: Our group sees a a piece of technology which gives its users an opportunity to easily find added meaning in something they are passionate about--in this case, sports. We would provide a user with a set of tools to conduct their own analysis of statistical trends, partly to understand why certain things happen in sporting events, but also in an attempt to allow a user to capture what are often termed "intangibles," certain qualities associated with a sports figure or organization that do not readily appear on a stat sheet or box score. By streamlining and simplifying the process of combining varying bits of data (from a large library of statistics) in custom ways, a user will be able to be coax tendencies and trends and may find new ways to quantify, tangibly, the "intangibles." A user will then be able to share his discoveries in a modular, component form with other users, and as more and more of these "new statistics" come into being, users will be able to further combine them to simulate theoretical models of possibilities--"what if" scenarios that may very well turn out to be more accurate than anything Vegas uses to produce a line on a game or expert sports analyzers use to predict the outcome of a trade.
