The project aims to develop a compiler for the Ruby language that targets the .NET Common Language Infrastructure (CLI). Our goal is to be fully semantically compatible with the original Ruby interpreter developed by Yukihiro Matsumoto (Matz) and company. We wish to add Ruby to the family of languages used to develop .NET components that can be used by other .NET languages. We also aim to provide Ruby programmers with seemless access to the resources and capabilities of the .NET platform, including standard libraries and third party components developed using other .NET languages. We plan to support all implementations of the CLI, including the popular open source Mono implementation.
