Parlay is a command line helper which intercepts some actions such as deleting files, and while it will perform all commands, it may keep copies in 'trash', use version control (without explicitly specifying a version control command), keep copies of old versions, or otherwise intelligently prevent the user from accidentally wrecking their project. It also keeps full, descriptive logs.
It is currently being reorganized as a plugin for Rubyunix
