we | moonlightthe Open Source Alternative User Experienceto Amend or Replace the DesktopDescriptionThe most important function of any Operating System is probably the way you can access your Documents and Programs. If this is implemented insufficiently, not practical enough or even bugged, you will quickly find yourself getting annoyed with your computer. we | are here to help. we | moonlight strives to be as Simple, Practical, Extendable and Visually Attractive as it is possible to be.
Simple:
This Software combines the comfort of your desk with the power of a computer: view your documents as they are, arrange them, push them around, jumble them up and sort them again - and when that doesn't help, let the computer sort, filter and search for you.
Practical:
Nothing makes a program more useless than Functions nobody needs (If you do miss them, see Point 2). Therefore, let's leave out those things that might make a program more attractive to buyers but no one uses, and put in things that are necessary. (After all, we're Open Source, and this program is completely free!)
Extendable:
If the existing possibilities in moonlight aren't good enough, or too complex for your purposes, by all means make your own (or modify anything we made).
Visually Attractive:
In this age, where computers can do many millions of calculations per second and render the most complex images in a jiffy, appealing graphics play a very important part in software. Whilst still maintaining a light-weight application that leaves (most of) your processor to the things you need, It is possible to provide some fun effects. This enhances your Experience and makes computing more relaxed.
Development StatusCurrently development is in the Alpha stage. Some sample files are Working, But according to the Roadmap we have not yet reached version 0.1 (Which would be the first Beta, albeit a developer release).
LinksPlease view the Roadmap, the Development Blog (once it's up) and the we | Software Page (once that is published; it is still in proofing).
Footnotes:If you do, please send it to us so it can benefit as many people as possible.
